Discover how PODD can help
PODD (Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display) is a comprehensive communication system for individuals who cannot meet all their communication needs using speech alone.
It gives individuals multiple ways to communicate their own messages, in any setting, with a range of different people. The underlying vocabulary organizational framework works in a paper book and on an electronic device, so what someone learns on one format carries over to the other.
The aim of PODD
The aim of PODD is to support autonomous communication by providing individuals with the language they need to say what they want, to whomever they want, whenever and however they choose. It is designed to meet current communication needs while supporting continued language learning and development.
Why PODD?
- Organizes vocabulary in a predictable, systematic way based upon conversational discourse and how language is used
- Supports real communication in any context: greeting, requesting, commenting, joking, telling stories, and more
- Available in paper-based books, iPad apps, or dedicated AAC devices
- Vocabulary organization stays consistent across formats, so users and communication partners learn and grow together
- Supports efficiency as well as motor automaticity for faster, easier communication
- Encourages self-initiated and generative communication
